In the summer of 2019, Gus and his friend Lissy took part in the Mongol Rally, driving more than 9,000 miles in a battered old Fiat Panda 1.2l!!
Having both lost close friends and family to brain tumours, Gus and Lissy wanted to raise money to support brain tumour research, to improve the outlook for those facing similar diagnoses in the future.
Taking on the epic challenge of the Mongol Rally, they travelled over 9,000 miles in six weeks, through southern Europe, across the Caspian Sea, and on through the deserts of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia. The car and its two occupants were challenged to the max on dirt tracks in 40 degree heat, travelling on average 300 miles a day. They raised the fantastic sum of £4,000, to be shared between Brain Research UK and Cool Earth.
Gus and Lissy are very grateful to their key sponsors: Blake and Bailey Family Fund, Sherborne School, Garden Art Plus and Piggy Goes to Market.
